As news breaks about the nefarious actions of Negasi Zuberi, also known as Sakima, Justin Hyche, and Justin Kouassi, it’s important that we delve into the details of his case and his alleged crimes. The FBI’s Portland Division recently charged Zuberi with interstate kidnapping in the District of Oregon. They suspect more victims might be scattered across numerous states, which sparks a nationwide investigation.
Who is Negasi Zuberi?
Negasi Zuberi, a 29-year-old male who has lived across several states, has come under scrutiny following grave accusations. Reports suggest that Zuberi used various aliases throughout his life, one of which being Justin Hyche, under which he primarily functioned. He previously resided in Oakland, California, between 2012 and 2018. However, the investigation includes several other states where Zuberi might have lived between August 2016 and today.
Zuberi’s pattern of crime involves heinous methods to gain control of his victims. Accusations claim that he drugs victims’ drinks, impersonates police officers, and solicits services from sex workers to violently sexually assault them. He may have filmed his encounters with victims to create an illusion of consensual interactions. If victims have the courage to notify the police, they face threats of retaliation.
The Oregon Incident
Two and a half weeks ago, a woman from Seattle revealed her kidnapping ordeal. Someone had abducted her and transported her to a home in Klamath Falls, Oregon, a location approximately 450 miles away. The journey would have taken about a seven-hour drive. It was here that she was chained up in a homemade cinder block cell located in the garage, lit by a single light bulb, and subjected to sexual assault. Her escape from this horror scene sparked the nationwide search for potential victims.
Following her brave escape, Zuberi was apprehended in Reno and indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly kidnapping the Seattle woman. According to the FBI, Zuberi had been residing in ten different states and several locations in Oakland area over the years.
Zuberi’s alleged crime spree did not end with the Seattle woman’s ordeal. An investigation into Zuberi’s home revealed a handwritten note titled “Operation take over” with unnerving instructions: “leave phone at home” and “make sure they don’t have a bunch of people in their life. You don’t want any type of investigation.”
Nationwide Investigation
Zuberi’s alleged actions have prompted the FBI to extend its search beyond Oregon. Zuberi is feared to have targeted women across multiple states. A federal investigation is underway, encouraging potential victims and informants to share their stories.
Despite the horror of these allegations, Zuberi’s persona remained unremarkable in his day-to-day life. To his neighbors in Klamath Falls, he was not particularly friendly, but he didn’t stand out as a cause for concern either. This duality underscores the complex and often hidden nature of such violent criminals.
